League Cup to be played in Martin Betton's name

By Harry Pickup

The league cup is officially the 'Martin Betton Cup'

Last season was an emotional campaign for the SMCCFL, as the league had to say goodbye to both Col Smith and Martin Betton.

Both managers made a tremendous impact on their clubs who still and always will feel the loss of their managers. The league decided to name the Charity Cup after Col Smith and are also naming the SMCCFL Cup the 'Martin Betton Cup' to demonstrate the great legacy left behind at Connect Poynton and the SMCCFL by Martin.

The draw for the cup has been made and will appear soon, but may the league take this opportunity to not only unveil the name, but honour and reflect on the great work Martin did through God, using football.

The SMCCFL is a Christian league and with leaders like Martin and Col, everyone affiliated with the SMCCFL is proud to have shared a pitch with these men of God.
