SMCCFL End of Season Review 22/23

By Simon Dagnall

The SMCCFL 2022/23 season has been completed and here’s a summary of what has happened...…

The season began as usual in September with three new teams joining the league in Division 3. We have completed all of our league and cup competitions in full, although the final match of the season was not played until the first Saturday in June!

The main headline of the season is that King’s Church achieved a ‘clean sweep’ of winning all four competitions that they entered, which perhaps most significantly included winning the National Christian Cup for the first time. Congratulations to Femi and his team for their achievements…..true champions in Christian football! It is also worthy of note and congratulations that Gatley St James won the National Christian Trophy.

Throughout the season we have aimed to maintain the spirit of the ‘SMCCFL Way’…..football played sporting, friendly and honest. Thank you to all players, managers, club officials and referees who have participated in and contributed towards another successful SMCCFL season.
